Forty days after his birth, Joseph and Mary took Jesus to the Temple to be dedicated. The priest did not know whom he was handling, but Simeon, an elderly man who was looking for the promised Saviour, and Anna, a prophetess, recognize the Messiah, and openly acknowledge their faith. Simeon speaks prophetically of how the incarnation will affect men, and history.
