Arkansas – Lessons from Daniel
From the Messenger and News Review of September, 1980, Fred wrote:
On August 29, the camp meeting in Arkansas commenced as scheduled…The message covered at this camp was…a verse by verse study of Daniel from beginning to end.
The Daniel messages brought great blessing and encouragement to us all. For a long time we had wondered how Daniel and his three friends had developed so clear an understanding of the principles of God being the only plan maker and problem solver. God showed us in these meetings that Jeremiah was the man who had taught the principles so clearly to them and to other receptive listeners before the coming of Nebuchadnezzar. It was the faithful work of this prophet and teacher which had effectively prepared the Hebrew youth to face and conquer Babylon.
We have come to learn that only when God has a faithful group of people who will have accepted Him fully as the Plan Maker and Problem Solver, will He be able to finish the work and cut it short in righteousness. If He could have found such a group in the past, the work would long since have been finished.
Such a group can only be developed by thorough training in the right message. It is thrilling to see that the same message which Jeremiah carried to the faithful of his day is being given to us by God at the present time. The same truths will have the same effect on those who receive them. In other words, the message which we are receiving today will prepare those who accept it to be just what Daniel and his companions were back there.
This gave great point and meaning to the work which God is doing just now. The waiting may seem long but the assurance is with us that the Lord is doing a work vital to the successful engagement with Babylon which is soon to break upon the world. As surely as the messages God brought through Jeremiah successfully prepared Daniel and his companions to fight Babylon back there, so it will accomplish the same today.
